Team Rector of the Pendleton Team Ministry
and Team Rector designate of the All Saints,
Salford Team

Mark moved from being Bishop’s Chaplain in the
Peterborough Diocese in January 2005; prior to that he
was a suburban/rural Assistant Curate, rural Incumbent,
Rural Dean and Archdeaconry Sub-Warden of Readers in
the Ely Diocese, then briefly a School Chaplain in Suffolk.
He hails from Blackburn and Altrincham, then graduating
from Aberdeen University prior to a career as a district
officer with the Forestry Commission in the Scottish
Borders, Lake District, East Anglia and the English
Marches.
Mark is a season-ticket holder at Blackburn Rovers FC,
and loves upland walking with faithful labrador Poppy; he
sings in the Cathedral Voluntary Choir, and plays club
tennis locally; family, friends and people-in-general are
among his other interests, along with a fatal attraction to
challenges!
In the new Salford All Saints Team, in addition to co-
ordinating and other responsibilities as Team Rector,
Mark is the Parish Priest for St Thomas’ Pendleton with
Holy Angels Claremont, and St Aidan Lower Kersal, and
has a  particular involvement with schools, and youth work
with Pendleton Rovers FC.
In addition to Salford Deanery work, Mark serves on the
Diocesan Synod, is a co-Tutor of a group of newly-ordained
curates, and serves as an Archdeaconry of Manchester
rep. on the Diocesan Church & Society Committee, being
particularly involved in the Historic Churches, and Urban
Faith & Life, Task Groups. Mark is also a member of the
Diocesan Evangelism Task Group, the Prayer Book Society
(Manchester Branch) Committee, and chairs the
Manchester Cathedral Country Home Main Committee, out
at Mellor.
