Vicar of St Luke with All Saints, Weaste
and Anglican minister at Emmanuel Church

Keith comes from Coventry, but he lived in Nigeria and
Switzerland as well as various other parts of the UK
before coming to Salford 30 years ago.  Before
ordination he qualified as a teacher of English – and
taught Art and French!  Studying Theology at Cambridge
gave him a taste for New Testament Studies, so he
took it further and ended up with a Doctorate.

He was an Industrial Chaplain in Manchester for many
years, and got involved in joint projects with colleagues
in Germany.  So he learned German.  In 1983 he helped
form a partnership between the Churches of Salford
and Lünen, Salford’s German twin-town.  In 1991 he
became Manchester Diocese’s European Officer, and
has arranged several group visits to Brussels, in
partnership with German colleagues and more recently
with Muslims as well.  He is now helping develop a
diocesan partnership with the Lutheran Diocese of
Tampere, Finland – and thinking about trying to learn
Finnish.

Keith became Vicar of St Luke’s in 1993, and now
represents the diocese on Salford City Council’s
Children’s Services Scrutiny Committee.  In 2007 he
also became the Anglican minister of Emmanuel Church.
As this is a Methodist-Anglican partnership, he is now
officially a Methodist minister as well.

In their spare time Keith and his wife, Patricia, like
going to the theatre and art galleries, enjoying mountain
scenery – and planning for retirement!
