For Lent
Next week we begin a discussion/bible study course on the church in a secular world.
“Christianity is the largest movement our world has ever seen. It continues to grow at an immense pace – especially in Asia (including China), Africa and Latin America. At the same time, Christianity in the West struggles to grow and – perhaps – even to survive. In this course we consider some of the reasons for this and what it might mean for individual Christians, for churches and for Western culture, in a world where alternative beliefs are increasingly on offer.”
Sessions are:
Thursdays 1.00pm-2.30pm. at St Philip’s church
Thursdays 7.30pm-9.00pm. at Chapel St and Hope URC (this is just along from Trinity and parking outside the church is free in the evenings)
Starting Thursday 1 March for 5 sessions.

We have an Art Club at St Philip's. It happens on Wednesdays from 1-3, although to join in with the water colour painting you can come at 12.30. It's open to anyone who is free on a Wednesday lunchtime and in addition to the painting we'll be teaching digital photography, videoing, creative writing and blogging. It's all done in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. You can come along if you simply want to learn to take better holiday snaps or if you already have skills but want to develop them. There will also be opportunities to do local history research and get things online. You don't need a camera but if you have one you can bring it. We hope to be able to offer other activities such as music and dance later. Come along and join in.

Manchester Confidential recently interviewed Andy Salmon and you can find the interview here.
Lots of people are very familiar with the roadworks on Chapel St at the moment. We're hopeful that it will be very nice when it's finished! For Holy Week Andy Salmon created a "Stations of the Cross" using images of hands and images from Chapel St. The one below is "Jesus falls for the first time" If you want to have a look, they are on Andy's Picasa pages. There is also a video version on Youtube. If you're wondering what the Stations of the Cross are they're a traditional way of telling, in pictures, the story of Jesus' journey carrying his cross through Jerusalem and his death. You can find out more in wikipedia.
There is a new Team Vicar in Weaste, Seedley & Langworthy. Find out about Charlie here.
